What I realize about myself is how completely inadequate I am in all areas of my life in meeting the standards that God gave to us, but as James said, God gives more grace. He isn't afraid of my infirmities; indeed, He told Paul that His power is made perfect in our weaknesses. And so I understand that a life lived for Jesus is a life lived in humble submission to God, being led by the Holy Spirit in all that I do. John the Baptist gave us the principle, which is that I must decrease, and He must increase. What God is making more and more real to me is what He said in John 15:5, which is that apart from Him, I can do nothing. That is a life verse to me. My heart cry: Oh Lord, I want more of you in my life, and less of me!
