'Star Wars' spinoff 'The Acolyte' pushes LGBT ideology: 'Get ready for pronouns in Star Wars'

It was mostly Han and Chewie fan service. Like alot of folks, I like Han Solo. He has far more depth than most Star Wars characters.

'Star Wars' spinoff 'The Acolyte' pushes LGBT ideology: 'Get ready for pronouns in Star Wars'

I liked Rogue One and Solo, but most of the newer Star Wars movies have just been ill-conceived. However, I do like the Old Republic period as a backdrop (I really liked the Knights of the Old Republic RPG), so I might watch Acolyte.

Republicans Need to DITCH tTheir Conspiracy Theories

That particular myth actually started during the Second Great Awakening. Early Americans, who had suddenly become religious in great numbers, had to find a theological explanation for this new nation. Because mingling a tax revolt with some sketchy Enlightenment philosophy just isn't going to...

Separation of Church and State – Answering Critics

It was a problem. But the voices of religious minorities, and their rights, were ignored. The Warren court remedied that.

'Star Wars' spinoff 'The Acolyte' pushes LGBT ideology: 'Get ready for pronouns in Star Wars'

Doctor Who is basically space opera for kids. It always has been. It's only gotten an adult fanbase in the last few decades. Star Wars isn't much different. Lucas even said he created a few of the episodes especially for children. It's a fairytale set in space, the opening gives it away " A...

'Star Wars' spinoff 'The Acolyte' pushes LGBT ideology: 'Get ready for pronouns in Star Wars'

I don't understand the prejudice against hiring somebody that's trans to fill a role, especially in a fantasy role. This isn't going "woke" or pushing an pecluriar agenda, this is just hiring a competent actor to fill a role. Christians should not stand for bigotry against any person. All...

Republicans Need to DITCH tTheir Conspiracy Theories

Christian Nationalism has become a heresy that's taken over many churches in the US. This isn't the fault of just conservative evangelicals, it has its roots in the Cold War, where many churches allowed civic religion to replace the Gospel.

Rosaria Butterfield gives advice for witnessing to gay friends, advises against celibacy

She's a fundamentalist Calvinist, and probably operating from some twisted idea of Augustinian anthropology. Just keep in mind even in this day and age, some people want to believe the world is flat. This isn't that different. Some people will reject the findings of science and human...

Rosaria Butterfield gives advice for witnessing to gay friends, advises against celibacy

She identified as a lesbian. She shouldn't speak for the experience of all LGBT people. For most people that identify as gay, their experience is quite different. There is no "cure" for being gay, and perpetuating that narrative does a great deal of damage to young lesbian and gay people.

'Star Wars' spinoff 'The Acolyte' pushes LGBT ideology: 'Get ready for pronouns in Star Wars'

I don't see the problem. Abigail Thorn is a popular and a competent actor and media personality on the internet.

Republicans Need to DITCH tTheir Conspiracy Theories

Aside from a minority of people that spend alot of time online, I think the tensions are greatly exaggerated. Especially among the younger generation who are about to become the dominant demographic in a few years.

A Meditation on Love to Christ

The Church of Christ is very different from the United Church of Christ (my denomination). The United Church of Christ is a Reformed church, just like Presbyterians. We do not share the Church of Christ's views on baptism, or a number of other things. The UCC was formed after a merger of a...

A Meditation on Love to Christ

Our churches generally practice open communion. We are congregationally governed, so it's really up to the local congregation. Church of Christ is a separate religious denomination that we have no ties with. We have pulpit and table fellowship with the Disciples of Christ, however. George...

A Meditation on Love to Christ

While Jonathan Edwards is part of the Congregationalist tradition, his style of religion was controversial at the time he lived, and isn't necessarily normative in our denomination today. Our spirituality is alot like any other mainline Protestant church in the Reformed tradition, it focuses on...

LGBT-affirming church vandalized with Leviticus 18:22

These kinds of incidents unfortunately aren't rare, though they tend to come in waves, according to whatever is happening in national politics. But it doesn't surprise me. Haters gonna hate.

Katy Perry releases edited pro-gay version of viral Harrison Butker speech

I think his tone doesn't reflect well on his religious faith. It is uncharitable. You can be thankful for your religious values, spouse and children without trying to condemn other peoples mode of life. He isn't seeking respectful dialogue, more like crusading. It was particularly ugly and...

1 million-member regional body leaves United Methodist Church over gay marriage, clergy

Not necessarily. However, it's inclusion in the canon was relatively late, and not without controversy. No, it is a warning not to add anything to a specific book of the Bible.

Republicans Need to DITCH tTheir Conspiracy Theories

Many Americans are unfamiliar with critical thinking. I've heard it said we have medieval institutions filled with paleolithic brains with godlike powers. I think that sums up what the problem is. The Internet has brought propaganda into peoples lives that simply aren't able to filter out...

High School Graduate Doesn’t Get Diploma after Urging Audience to Seek Jesus

This isn't merely about offending people. It's violating the rights of others in imposing religious preaching at a secular, non-religious event, where a people from a variety of faiths, or none, must be accomodated and respected. Violating the rights of others is never moral, no matter what...
