    Question on Communion

That was written in 2003, and as stated, positions change. It is irrelevant what the leadership says, on the ground it is virtually impossible to find a Methodist who believes in the Real Presence unless they are "high" Methodist, and even then opinions differ.

    Question on Communion

Yes. I have never met any British Methodist that believes in the Real Presence. The British Methodist church varies in what believers accept: some see a real presence, others see a symbolic presence, a minority see no symbolism within the Eucharist at all. The leadership allows each Methodist to...

    Question on Communion

As a British Methodist, all I can say is that we do not believe in the Real Presence, rather seeing it as more symbolic than anything else.

Ted Cruz has convincing win in Iowa, Trump votes barely above Rubio

He was only 4 points ahead of Trump. Hardly a "convincing win." It doesn't matter how many votes he got, if he is only a few percentage points ahead of his rivals the race is too close to call. He won't do well outside the evangelical states. Rubio on the other hand is well placed, and for me...

Ted Cruz has convincing win in Iowa, Trump votes barely above Rubio

I wouldn't call being 4 points ahead of Trump a "convincing win." It was a win, certainly, but still too close to call. For me the real winner was Rubio who was only 1 point behind Trump and who has momentum. Outside Iowa in more secular states, I can't see Cruz doing that well.

    Covenant Service

We had our Covenant Service this Sunday. Having been away from Methodism for some time, I forgot how moving it can be, and how it reaffirms your faith.

Please help me answer my 13 year old's question

You are partly right. It does come from the robes that the Jewish Priests wore, but is also to do with the fashions of the earlier church. Many Anglicans and some Methodist ministers wear what was fashionable in the 17th and 18th centuries, and for some reason it has stayed. In some Methodist...

    Favorite bible translation

I think the NASB is more accurate. The issue I have with literal translations like these is that they are often unreadable if you want to use them in a service or Bible Study. English is not the best language to translate into.

What English Bible Translation is most often used?

Here in the UK many use the NIV, others the Good News Bible. Others still will use the NRSV. As far as I am aware there is no official recommended translation for use in the UK Methodist Church.

    Favorite bible translation

I love and use the NIV (2011). Very readable and accurate, and widely used. It is the one used in my church, although a lot of Methodist churches here in the UK use the Good News Bible, which is the biggest selling Bible translation in the UK.

    High Church/Anglo-Catholics vs Roman Catholics?

It wasn't defamatory. And I think Albion is big enough to defend himself. :)

    High Church/Anglo-Catholics vs Roman Catholics?

That's how it came across. Sorry, but Liberasit got to me with all their anti-Anglo Catholic posts over the last few months and I guess I mis-read your post. Apologies.
